On Friday night, officers from the Fairfax County Police Department were called to the 8700 block of Sacramento Drive, where they found 25-year-old Joshua Fieldings suffering from a single gunshot wound to his upper body.
He was rushed to an area hospital, but later died from the injury.
The investigation led members of the department to identify a 17-year-old as a suspect after he got into a previous altercation with Fieldings. A witness said that they saw the teen fleeing from the scene after a gunshot was heard as his victim left a local business.
According to a department spokesperson, detectives were able to track down the teen in a Lorton home - where a gun was recovered - and he was charged with:
- Second-degree murder;
- Use of a firearm during the commission of a felony;
- Underaged possession of a firearm.
The teen is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center.
